Just north of Visby on Gotland two former artist homes built in the beginning of the 20th century lie inbedded in a jungle-like greenery. Muramaris (see previous post) and Brucebo.
Right next to our favorite island bakery, Själsö bageri, lies Brucebo. The house was built in the beginning of the 1900's by artists Carolina Benedicks Bruce and her Canadian husband William Blair Bruce. Today it’s open to visitors and the surrounding grounds part of a nature reserve with breathtakingly beautiful trails.
Huge atelier windows. And on the inside plenty of turn of the century interior-inspiration in the form of rattan, heavy textiles and sculpture.
